Going to the movies is a great
American past time, to see some of your favorite actors on the large screen and
immerse yourself into the story line. There is a lot of preparation work before
a movie even starts being filmed, and Sofia Sondervan had to learn all the
different aspects of production to get there.
Sofia Sondervan graduated cum
laude from New York University's Tisch School
of the Arts. As a student she focused on film and television and it is in this
that she graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Since she completed
her work as a student, Sofia Sondervan has gone on to produce a number of
films. The first film that Sofia
Sondervan produced was actually a short film titled Je maintiendrai, which she also wrote and produced. . However,
Sofia Sondervan's first real job as a producer came in 2001. In 2003, she had three movies released in the
same year.
In 2003, Sofia Sondervan was an
Executive Producer on Party Monster
starring Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green. She was also a producer on The Hebrew Hammer starring Adam Goldberg
and Rick starring Bill Pullman. Party Monster and The Hebrew Hammer both
premiered at Sundance, Rick premiered at the Toronto International Film
Festival. It was her work as a producer
on these three movies that truly jumpstarted her career.
Sofia Sondervan’s next project
was released in 2005 when she was an Executive Producer on The King, starring Gael Garcia Bernal and William Hurt. This film
premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. She then went on to produce 2007's Feel the Noise, 2008's Cadillac Records, and 2012's Bringing Up Bobby. Naturally, Sofia
Sondervan is proud of her track record. She loves working on films, and teaches
a graduate film directing and producing course to share her knowledge and
experience with other aspiring film artists.
